DEVON ST. IVE TUGMAN



June 18, 1949 - October 1, 2016

Devon St. Ive Tugman, a longtime Middletown resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 1, 2016 following a short illness at home. He was 68.
The son of the late Johnny and Gwendolyn Williams Tugman, he was born on June 18, 1949 in Berrydale of Portland, Jamaica. Devon was the youngest son of 11 children and was a devoted, dependable and honest man throughout his life. He married Leonie Lindo on December 10, 1975. In 1980, Devon and Leonie moved to Middletown, NY from Kingston, Jamaica. Devon Tugman was the owner of D and L Jewelers in Hawley, PA. Devon was a dedicated member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Middletown. He served in many capacities such as Head Elder, Chairman of the Middletown Seventh-day Adventist School Board and other pertinent positions. He was actively involved in his community, he worked in prison outreached and was helpful wherever he could be to others.
He is survived by his loving wife, Leonie; by his children, Keane Tugman of Clinton, MA, Dale Tugman of Middletown and Tara French and her husband, Mark of Henrietta, NY; his grandchildren, Jaela Tugman Morgan and Nathan French. He is also survived by his three brothers, Ruel, Leon and Lenox and his three sisters, Laura, Linda and June. As well as his many nieces and nephews .

Visitation will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 70 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY on Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Middletown Seventh day Adventist Church. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.
Memorial contributions in Devon's name may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 70 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
